The VG30DETT is what is refered to as a noninterference motor, meaning the valves will never contact the piston domes (at any crank degree) This is due to the lowered comp. ratio. (8.5to1) that higher boost turbo motors run (more that 4/5 psi.). Next time you change your timing belt, (or if you have spare time and don't believe me) spin the crank it will never touch the valves. On the other end of it, the VG30DE (na) is an interference motor (10to1)and in the same condition would have made contact. So you could of thrown a t belt, and new cover on it and drove away. dave@speedfreakchicago.com
