companies were not covering him yet. They simply refused to. His current company didn't drop him, and I'm not aware that the rates went up because of the claim. As far as I know, they went up due to rising property values. This of course is by no means defending insurance companies. I'm simply trying to clarify the facts of this instance. As far as I'm concerned, insurance is a total scam on every front. Homeowners, auto, health. They're all scum.
