Message Or an alternate title could be: Why the products from China are killing innovation for the Z32. I know, I'm hopeless. I posted this below but I felt it needed to be posted at the top for more to see. I know it's almost pointless and that I'm probably of a dying breed, but damnit, I hate the internet sometimes.

My response:

It's a losing battle and it SUCKS for those of us in it for the long haul. Sure, Greg is a friend of mine...all of the simpletons here like to point that out but it goes FAR deeper than that. My post history, even in debate with those I don't agree with, shows that I want ONE thing: The advancement of the Z32. Even talking with Ash I was quick to make that a point. All I care about is our cars getting more reliable, quicker and just better overall.

What the people on the forum don't see are the people that have new products on the cusp of coming out that are SCARED to release them. The reason being that in this day and age, the product can and will be copied within MONTHS rather than years. Sure, it's natural progression for a given, unpatented product to be copied and the cost to go down. Usually that happens after a very long period of time but that time frame has become shockingly short with the internet and how quickly things travel.

There is one vendor here in particular (no, it's not SpecialtyZ) that has a GREAT product on the way that no one has ever thought to remake the right way. They've spent so much time and money in getting it to work and yet they are scared to release it simply for the fact that someone in China could copy it within a month. These companies/people can't afford the time and money in trying to patent something, let alone the enforcement of that patent overseas. Companies like RVM undermine the entire innovation process and as a result, slow it down. For a new car like the 350Z, it's not so bad but they might just kill it for a car this old.

Some people will NEVER understand the bigger picture and some don't care. As long as it benefits them today, in their wallet, right now that is all they care about. Every day on this forum we lean more to that side than to the ways of old and it's disappointing. These are 15 year old cars and the time is coming when there wont be 50 companies that make intakes and such like with the cars of today. And at this rate, we'll have chased off all the people who want to better these cars before they hit classic status.

There are hundreds of people that understand what I'm saying and plenty that agree...it's just that most are smart enough to not comment on a lost cause. I'm just a stubborn bastard that HOPES people will come to their senses when in reality I know that wont happen. These cars are turning into Civics and the communities that buy them aren't helping.

I know no one cares but I'm going to go out fighting until the end or until I get fed up with it and bail on the forum like so many have before me. I'll shut up now.
