Message :I hate to say that a lot of the other clubs had an issue with TT.net doing their own thing at Zcon. It didn't bother me too much, but I can name at least 4 clubs that chewed my ear off about it.

It's not like we're a Dodge Neon club that invaded Zcon, we're all Z'ers. I think some of the purists (240,260,280 clubs) are just resentful at the level of enthusiasm and coordination that we have, despite not having vocal and powerful leaders of our club. After all, the president of the Z club called the Z32 a "couch", as if to emphasize his view that the Z32 is an outcast and should remain a subordinate subject at Z events, but we didn't get our panties in a wad about it.

The main difference in my opinion is that the heads of the old school Z clubs all aspire for some kind of political power in the Z scene, electing officials, having charters, etc, while the Z32 crowd mostly centers around a website which isn't part of a larger political structure and isn't governed by anyone else. The politicians in the other Z clubs must think that because they rose to power in their own club, that they should have some sort of authority over the lowly members of other clubs. (That stuck out like a sore thumb to me at the Zcon dinner, the power plays in the Z scene.)

If you let the purist whiners get their way, they'd have the 240/260/280 on a pedestal as the core of all Z functions, while the 280ZX/Z31/Z32/Z33 guys remain relegated to watching up from the fringe. I'd rather we do our own thing than to be part of that.
