Message I am trying to help a few members obtain a higher ring and pinion for their Z32TTs. When I initially started gathering info about the 4.10s, I had a handful of Z owners ask about having a higher (numerically lower) ratio for their R230 rear ends. The cost of having 10-20 sets produced is ridiculous (some find the cost of 100 sets to be ridiculous). So I started looking into the vehicles that utilize an R230 differential (Info that I had gathered in my initial research, trying to find lower gearing for the Z, before I had any manufactured) other than the Z. The only one that I could find is the Armada, formally considered a Pathfinder. I have talked to every person in the know that I can think of (Pretty bright folks at JWT, as well as a Nissan engineer that worked on customizing an Armada for a project at SEMA...even he didn't know if the ring and pinion are interchangeable). I E-mailed a nameless TT.net member that I heard had done some investigating into the compatibility of the two ring and pinions, but didn't get a return response. The available ratios in the Armada are 2.93 (This is the standard ratio, Nissan part#38100-7S180), and 3.35 (This is the off road/tow package, Nissan part#38100-7S3890). Members are looking for a higher ratio for various purpaces: high speed race events, tracks with long straights, and some just wanting lower RPMs when cruising on the highway. My last step is to buy an Armada ring and pinion from Nissan, but before I do that, I was wondering of any of my wise Z32 bretheren would possess the info that I seek...that being: are the ring and pinion out of the R230 Armada differential compatable with the R230 differential in the Z32TT? Any knowledgeable feedback is welcome, and yes I'm long-winded. Thanks in advance, Mark
