Message	is sometimes different than what the car really makes. Way back when, the manufacturers gave out inflated numbers, and consumers bought the "big number" cars. Then, insurance companies started upping the premiums on said "big number" cars. So, down the horsepower ratings fell. There have been many cars that made much more power than they were rated.
