If you and I were making competing products and we each tried to outdo one another by contantly innovating, that is free enterprize. If you kept on coming up with new ideas while I just sat back and made exact copies of your product, that is IP infringement. I'd be stealing your ideas, everything you worked for. You'd end up eating the bill for R&D, while I just bought one of your products and began pumping out duplicates.
