in fact I was called and notified while I was driving the car back to be returned. The rental had NO damage at all, and that was verified by the rental company, but the police officer wanted nothing to do with it, he said the accident was so minor that the car wouldn't have a lot of damage on it. This is why I question the possibility of going to court. The only thing I am worried about is some character that reported my license plate (random "witness") about an hour after the actual accident occurred. What I think happened is since I was in the area, this guy saw a similar car and thought I was the same guy that hit the other guy. I haven't been contacted at all by the person that was hit, I would like to talk to him and let him know I had nothing to do with it and assure him that if taken to court, it would be a useless hassle because I was not driving when the accident occurred. Did your case go to court? If so what were the ramifications? Thanks everyone.
