| Message | I was cruising in Pasadena on Green St. which is a one way through the heart of the city. I was stuck behind some slow moving people and I grew impatient (my fault). As such, I saw an opening and got into the far left lane and got way ahead of most of the traffic. I was probably doing 45-50mph in a 35 for that short stretch. About 10 seconds after I slowed down, I see a blue unmarked Crown Victoria with the window lights blazing coming up behind me. I'm thinking "Shit, that's what I get for being impatient". So I pull over, put the keys on the dash, have my cards out and wait for the office to come up. A woman came up to the window and it went like this: Me: I'm really sorry about that. I shouldn't have been speeding. I was impatient and trying to get to a jobsite. I know better.Officer: Well the reason I pulled you over was for racing
Me: Racing? Racing with what? I was speeding, that's for sure, but I wasn't racing anyone or anything. What car was I racing?
Officer: There was a Black Honda with 2 asian males behind you.
[I had seen that car, it was stock except for bronze wheels but I wasn't going to admit that much]
Me: [acting shocked] What? I didn't see any car. I wasn't racing anyone. I was trying to get to work and I was a jackass about it. I was speeding and I can accept that but I wasn't racing anyone.
Officer: You know, there have been 4 racing related deaths in the city in the last 6 months. In fact, there are more racing deaths than gang related deaths. Did you know that?
Me: Yes, I know how dangerous racing can be on the street, that's why I take it to the track.
Officer: Yes, you do have a fancy setup here.
Me: I know. You have to believe me, I was not racing that Honda. Where is that other car, I didn't even see it.
Officer: I can only get one of you. He probably saw you getting pulled over and turned.
Me: I swear, I was not racing anyone. I was doing approximately 40-50mph with no one next to me. I was speeding, I admit that much, but I was NOT racing.
Officer: Well, today is your lucky day.
 Me: Why?
Officer: Well, I'm going to let you off with a warning. If you were a real Adam Henry I'd have a cop here within 10 minutes and we'd have your car.
 Me: Adam Henry?
Officer: It starts with an A and ends with Hole
Me: Ah, yes. Thank you very much. I really made a poor judgement to speed but thank you for not taking my car.
Officer: Have a nice day. Remember, next time it could be manslaughter.
So that was it. I was blown away. Racing!? It just goes to show that even if you're just sitting next to a ricerocket or some "modified" looking car, anything you do can be considered racing. And in Kalifornia, they can and WILL take your car. Right now is a scary time in that they are making examples of people by selling their cars outright if caught. Clearly there's some legal problems with that since you have to give someone a fair trial before selling their property but apparently there's a loophole in that. It'd be bad enough being made an example but even worse when I wasn't even racing anyone! I was completely guilty of speeding, that much is for sure but I came this >< close to having my Z impounded. We've said it over and over, be respectful and courteous to your peace officers! You have more to gain that way, even if they ARE wrong. PS: I'm getting resonators on Thursday. I'm sure the loud Labree didn't help my cause. :
