If you play dumb and tell an officer that "the car came like that", they'll assume that you think they are dumb and know you are just lying. Most cops at least should know what an aftermarket intake looks like. Also, having any air come out of a vehicle where it's not supposed to (i.e. BOVs that vent to the atmosphere) is illegal and an emmisions violation. All cars don't really even need a BOV that vents to the air anyways, that air you're getting rid of for that cool sound could be used for keeping the turbo spooled. If you want that "cool" sound, your exhaust to be loud, expect to be harrassed for it. You gotta pay to play. Your statement regarding private property is somewhat accurate, if they find you doing donuts in the mall parking lot there isn't much they can do. They could however, have mall security "call" them and you'd be dealing with a vandalism charge. :) I used to work for the police department. I even watched 2 fast 2 furious with a bunch of cops, so I know a little about this stuff. Take care and be safe :)
