| >How did you handle your 1st track day in your car? First... get a good set of brake pads for the car. Second... make sure you give the car a good check out. Third... Find someone who's been there and done that... After getting all worked up on how badly I was going to drive... on making mistakes... on getting all embarrassed in front of all these 'strangers'... I listened to Nixit who reminded me that driving at the track is supposed to be fun. That helped me relax quite a bit and concentrate on trying to drive the car fast on the track with a huge sh$t eating grin. >Were you afraid you might f@#k up and trash you z? Of course... but that's why you should have an instructor with you at all times your first day there. Besides being there to show you the proper lines and braking areas... they are there to make sure you don't drive the track in such a way to trash your Z... nor anyone else's. "I want you to take that corner a little slower next time... " heard that a few times. >or are there barriers like hay to prevent obvious errors Hopefully the track has nice wide runoff areas that give you time to get the car under control before you test the local barriers. Walls are bad things at a track... they always win. >unlike blowouts on a straight at 175mph!!?? If it's your first time at a track... I wouldn't drive on one that gives you the opportunity to get to 175... I would think that at most road courses the speeds are lower than that. Be seeing you.Tu.
