Message Just wanted to give a little tease of a future part to come out of SPL. We finished installing the prototypes this weekend. They are solid diff mounts similar to the solid subframe bushings that replace both the front and rear bushings. The install was not very hard other than dropping the exhaust, drive shaft, diff and HICAS if you still have it. Just like replacing the stock bushings with Nismo bushings you have to hammer out the old one on the diff and the new one slips right in. The rear bushing on the subframe is a bit harder but with a 3” PCV coupling, ½” threaded rod and some kind of plumping 3” to ½ adapter plate. With those tools you can pull out the old bushings and press in the new ones, very similar as you would do the subframe bushings.

Pics of the bushing install, since this was a prototype there was a lot of measuring and fit testing.

Here are a few pics of the bushings installed.

Compared to the Nismo bushings I previously had the noise level went up just a bit. If anything it sounds like a race car and shouldn’t bother anyone if you normally listen to the radio. At parking lot speed you can’t really hear the diff which is partly due to me having the B&B but even then I have resonators so its pretty quiet (Check my mod list). At highway speed with the windows up and radio off you can hear a high pitch wine similar to a bad fuel pump but just higher pitch. The only time that it really stands out is while slowing down with the car out of gear, you can really hear the wine as the car slows down. There are not any downsides at least that I can say in the last 2 days of driving the car. Wheel bounce is minimal to null and handling doesn’t seem adversely affected by the mod. All in all a easy mod with just a slight noise penalty but compared to my others mods it’s hardly noticeable.

If you’re interested I would let Kuah know!

Enjoy the Ride!
