the head ache and suck it up i.e. the deductible. To declare bankrupsty over $2200 is down right stupid if they think that is the way out. I don't know what your deductible is but I am sure it is less than $2200.
Also, in many states, it is against the law for an insurance carrier to raise your rates for filing a claim that is not your fault. I had a neighbor's kid back into my truck when it was parked on the street. He had no insurance. I used my insurance and got it fixed. They went after him for collections. The body shops I went to showed me the law in Arizona that prohibited insurance carriers from raising your rates if you are not at fault. Find out about from your insurance what the law is for your state concerning filing a claim when you are not at fault.
