| It can all be done without pulling the motor. the head, both manifolds come right off. take off the oil pan from the bottom obviously. You'll need to raise the motor a bit to get it out (jack it up from the crank pulley or transmission). Push pistons up and then reassemble. If you're doing the lifters too thats another story (that i can't help you with). It was a pain to get the oil pan back in. A hoist would help a lot to gain the extra clearance and the gasket for the oil pan is a royal pain the ass to get back together. My dad and I had the motor apart in about 3-4 hours, another 3-4 for reassembling. You can prolly do it in a day. We had the heads rebuilt so there was some down time. One more note: make sure you torque the connecting rods to factory spec..my dad over torqued the one and it knocks a bit at start up until the oil pressure builds up.
