Message reputable rebuild shops in the area. My biggest concern is that even though you get a motor with what appears to be 30k ~ 40k on it, you have no idea how it was maintained. There is a risk that the "new" motor could die prematurely.

My old age is showing, but whoever posted the tt motor install (in Denver) detailed some of the problems found when going through the motor prior to install. The melted detonation sensor was my favorite BTW. It might be a good idea to email him (as well as anyone else who's recently done motor swaps) to see what issues they had with the "new" motor.

Yes, the other downside is that the car will be out of commission for a longer period of time. The only alternative to that would be to buy a low mileage motor, rebuild it, and have it ready to plug-n-play. But that will require more $$ up front.

Keep investigating your alternatives. You're doing the right thing be researching all of this up front.
