Message A few days ago some of our members were confused about my 500 turbos. One member even suggested that I use stock wheels. Here are some pics of the GMS 500 vs. stock wheels.

First pic shows the compressor wheels. Notice that the 500 compressor on the left is slightly large in diameter than the stock compressor. This is the biggest wheel that I could fit into a stock compressor housing without eliminating the diffuser. Putting a bigger compressor wheel will require machining that will eliminate the diffusor completely. When you lose the diffusor, efficiency drops (the problem with the bad design T28s)

Now lets take a look at the turbine wheel. You can see the 500 turbine wheel on the left, bigger than the stock wheel. You are not as limited on the turbine side without hurting efficiency, since the turbine housing does not have a diffusor. But since the compressor wheel can only be so big, you do not want a turbine wheel that will cause additional lag.

Another look at the turbine wheels. This shot shows the B-width, or depth of the wheel. In general a bigger B-width equals higher flow. The 500 turbine has a larger (or deeper) B-width. My personbal opinion is that this turbine wheel is good for up to 500 rwhp, but I doubt the compressor will flow that much.
