Message	At least not so far as I can tell: how stuff works has this useful page, for instance. There is no difference between 4th gear and 3rd gear other than the size of the little gears. 4th is no more "directly connected" than 1st. Honestly I think all you guys are making stuff up furiously to try to defend the "common knowledge" that is in fact based on nothing. (Exception: I read your post on the manifold pressure measurements Chip, and I find it very interesting!) - John
