If ANYTHING, you need to realize that a dyno is a tuning tool and that you get the best results by comparison rather than the hard number it spits out. What I mean is, you should always stick to the very same way of dynoing if you can which means the same gear when you do it. A rule of thumb for as long as I've ever heard of a dyno is that you do it in the gear that is closest to 1:1. Regardless of WHY we do it that way, which I can't scientifically give you every answer for, that is the way we "compare" to others. Wish I could explain it better but trust me, we use 4th on manual 300ZXs :)
