Message It's a message forum, not an archival record. It's here to promote discussion.

Actually, the way I was brought up here I was led to believe this is an archival record site. And I don't mean that simply because we archive everything but because that was and is still the goal that I see echoed by the powers that be. The strange mutated forum that we see today is not their original intent as far as I can tell. To this you could easily point out that if it isn't the way they want it to be, they can easily force it to be that way and normally I'd agree. I'm on a bunch of forums and like I mentioned above, I agree with (and actually use) your way of handling things. If it were my place, I'd have easily banned a few hundred people by now and I'd rule with an iron fist despite my ever-present, outward appearance of being Mr. Diplomacy.

I just get the feeling that Damon and Greg always have so much shit going on with their lives that hunkering down, getting pissed and telling people NO isn't on their short list. As such, you have a bunch of moderators that are on eggshells because the vocal people here are a bunch of pussies that whine when things don't go their way. And when you have a place that isn't actually moderated by those with all the power, swift and freeflowing justice does not exist and the jackassery becomes habitual and "accepted" by many. Does this mean that I want more power or specifically the power to ban? Not a chance...in fact, I'd like to not be a moderator because I don't like the job at all. I do it because friends of mine need the help and this place has given me quite a lot of help over the years. I'm not even very good at it with how I only browse the site once or twice a day, mostly late at night. What I am saying is that keeping a place like this perfectly smooth when the two people that run the show are busy with other things is next to impossible. I can't even email one of them with expectations of a response...so to expect anything even remotely close to perfection in moderation is a waste of time. Every day that this website is up is one more day we're lucky to have it as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't be surprised ONE BIT if the public posting forums were gone in 2005 and all that was left was a searchable archive or at worst, just a Google cache. I also wouldn't be all that upset about it either, if you can believe that. Not because I wouldn't miss the acquaintances I've made here or the occasional truly funny/informational post but because I'm sure Greg and Damon would have a hell of a weight lifted off their shoulders and eventually people would land on another forum(s). And despite how perfect Z31.com may be (crickets and all), nearly any other Z forum would be twice the clusterfuck this place is now once THESE people became part of the general populous. Just you wait ;)

The only thing that keeps me positive is that I love my car to death. As much as I post here, I can love driving my car without this place and with the retiring of my NA, I've outgrown needing any sort of "acceptance" with what I do to it. So whatever changes we do see in the future (if any at all), I welcome them.
