it's better suited to a large single turbo setup. All the exhaust ports are on the same side, going into a single manifold. You have space to mount a big turbo. With a V6 you have to combine the exhaust gasses coming from two manifolds on opposite sides of the engine, which requires a piping setup that is more complicated, and therefore probably less efficient, than an I6. Not to mention the space issues with a V6; even if the piping were as efficient, you still have a hell of a time getting the piping in there.
