To clear up any questions and misconceptions that might have arisen about the difference between the master and valet keys, here you go: In picture #1, you can see the red (valet) key on the left, and the black (master) key on the right: . 
. The difference lies in the next picture. If you look at the two sets of parallel green lines I placed on the keys. You'll notice that the center raised channel on the valet is 1/2 the width of the same channel on the master. All of the locks are set up to accept the master keys channel, while only the neccessary locks will accept the skinnier, valet center channel. . 
Pretty simple. As to what the valet should and should not open? I have no idea, I never use it =)
