Kenwood really reaches into the depths of cheap with some of their products. Those who are willing to save a buck may end up with something thats just, well, cheap & pretty. Obviously, there is a market for cheap and shiny. I would suggest buying a maintenance/service plan next time around if you want years of coverage on a cheap radio.
I own a Kenwood Z828 that I've had for about 3 years now and I love it - moved it to 3 different cars and now its in the Z. I also use a Kenwood 5-channel amp in the Z because it fit the size/power restrictions I was working with.
