Message I feel for man. I know what you've been through. I went through the exact same thing, but I've got a bit of a different take on it. I built a J-spec motor with some T-28 turbos and a whole list of mods. I had the car half together(and, admittedly a little backwards) when I ran out of time. I sent it to Z1 to finish the project and dyno tune it. I was an VERY UGLY project, but one that Z1 took on and saw to completion. During the dyno the car blew a ring and shot the oil stick half way across the bay. But how can I blame Z1 or Ash for that? I gave them a J-spec motor that I THOUGHT was good, but who really knows? I was upset, pissed, frustrated; but mostly with myself because I took the risk of pushing the limits, and lost. Ash did for me exactly what I asked him to do. I knew there was a risk. If there wasn't a risk, then Nissan would have made all the Zs with 600 HP. I'm not a mechanic, or a Z expert, but I am a mechanical engineer, and I'll tell you that every time Ash explains something to me about my car, it makes good sense. This guy knows what he's doing, and he's very methodical about his work. I'll also tell you that Z1 stands behind their work, and here's the proof : After this incident I decided to have them build me a high performance Z motor with Z1 stage 2 turbos, and ALL the works - including a nitrous spool up kit. The motor lost a bit of compression on one of cylinders after the nitrous tuning, and was not running smooth. It wasn't bad, but it didn't seem quite right either. Since they built the motor, they took it out and broke it down to repair it. It ended up being a burnt tip on an exhaust valve. After this the car had a slight intermittent smoking problem. The car still ran great, but Ash wasn't satisfied. He pulled the motor again and took apart the turbos to find out what was wrong. They didn't see any positive signs of failure, but put new turbos in anyway - just to make sure. The car put down incredible numbers and runs like a bat out of hell. They stood behind there work, even when it was very hard to do. Through this process I spent a lot of time with these guys. They are very trust worthy, and I'd take my car back to them any time. That's just my 2 cents.
