Message	or clearcoated. And to follow up Steve's point, I bought them second hand so no manual. Couldn't find one online either. But I think Steve may be right, it's possible they aren't supposed to be real shiny. They have only a couple thousand miles on them and were manufactured in September of last year so I wouldn't think there would be a lot of wear on tear on them. Maybe it's just thet wat they are.
