I have taken the Wilwoods to most of the tracks in California. The Wilwood kit is simply superb. The one only time I had a brake problem with them was at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA: I boiled the brake fluid after about 4 laps of 10/10ths driving (and 5 or so laps of preceding "warmup") on DOT race tires and PFC90 race pads. Thunderhill has two long straights where you have to brake hard from 125-130 MPH. But the pads never did fade. No problems at all at other tracks like Buttonwillow, Big Willow and Streets of Willow. I would think the Stoptechs could be no better in this regard, having fewer pistons. If I had to choose again, I'd get the ThermLock pistons, but I am more than happy with the brakes. To me, the decision came down to being able to use the stock wheels with the brakes. Since I wanted to have a set of race rubber, I was faced with the decision to either buy 2 sets of larger wheels to use other brake kits, or one other set of stock wheels. For me it was an easy decision. Not to mention, tire choices prices are MUCH more favorable for the stock sizes, and the stock wheels are quite light as well. As for direct comparison, I can't help. But it would be tough to beat the Wilwoods as they are quite good. If anyone with a properly setup car w/Stoptech's in CA would like to do a head's up, shoot be an email and we can setup a track day to do a real comparison.
