:you say it cant be done why not thinking out side the box for once. I think it would be great im sure there would be bugs but that is what im gonna work out. I just asked a simple question. Just wanted to make some conversation thats all. Anyways i will let you know how it turns out im pretty dead set on it. this will cost you a ton of money. here's why; 1. if you use the t56 bell housing, you will need to install and modify a t56 style (chevy) flywheel since the starter wont work. 2. if you use the t56 bell housing, you will need to manufacture a VERY exact fitting adapter plate. 3. you will need to fabricate a way to install a starter, but it wont fit with your stock exhaust. whoops. 4. if you use the bell housing off a z32, you will need to machine, cut and weld on both transmission. (ie, sacrfice both) 5. if you use the z32 bell housing, you will need to find a clutch that mounts to a z32 flywheel but has the same spline as a T56. Time for a custom flywheel. 6. The shift linkage(s) will need to be fabricated (not a simple bolt on)...this will require lots of R&D, including dropping the tranny multiple times. 7. The linkage mounts will need to be fabricated. 7. The stock mounting will not work since the T56 is shorter then the Z32 tranny. 8. the back up light sensor will work. 9. the neutral position switch *should* work. 10. The Speed sensor will not work most likely. Z32s is gear drive (low impedence signal)... the T56 uses a hall effect sensor (high impedence). 11. Your driveshaft will have to be custom made. 12. There's more, but these are the highlights. I was laying under the car this past week considering taking dimensions incase I decide to do such a swap. It's TOTALLY possible, no question... but what's the point? seriously. If 5 gears isn't enough for you, then you are lame and dangerous ( or a Open Road Race Event participant (rare) ). If you need a more usable power band, consider choosing (AND TUNING) your mods for the application.
