| Well I normally would never berate someone or there business as I would not want it to happen to me and what I work hard for, but in the same vain I as well as many people want to be treated fairly and do so to others. I have taken it up with XAT and have made no progress so I am informing others in the community about what happened with our situation. I installed, for my brother-in-law, a SR20DET motor after he already had one fail in his 240SX due to a bad wrist pin. So he contacted XAT Racing out of Tampa and they got him a new motor which I installed this time. The motor we got from XAT Racing has developed a rod knock within the first 50 miles of driving the car. I received the motor from them less then 30 days ago (April 29, 2004) and had it installed that very weekend. Some problems developed with the turbo and a new one was purchased, and installed by me, from XAT racing. Two weekends ago the motor was back together and running. A few bugs poked there ugly head like the clutch needed to be adjusted, wiring issues, oil leaks, etc. Well we got all those ironed out and my brother-in-law drove down from N.C. to FL to pick up the car and drive it back this past weekend. He got approximately 35 miles from my house and had to have the car towed back to my house. I called and asked XAT what they would do and they told me that because they didn’t install it then they will not warranty it. The moral of this is not that XAT is a bad company or that the parts that you get may be bad. Those things happen to us all and there is no way to stop them from happening. The moral is XAT doesn’t really care what happens to us. They are more concerned with making money then giving the customer what they paid for. Now I understand that ‘it is a used motor and that we cant guarantee that it will work’ line, but a company would also understand that you paid to get a running motor not a just a motor we have one of those (remember the wrist pin) and make good on that arrangement. The other concern that was brought to my attention from XAT was the fact that because they didn’t put it in there is no telling what was done. It’s a rod. Not an intake bolt or an exhaust flange why would I even get near the rods or pistons in the block when it was a long block that was purchased. Not a tore down version of a used block. I have attached a link to a video of the fantastically running motor so you can hear and see it. Enjoy Justin [ www.thirtyniners.com/videoclips/rod_knock.WMV ]
