We made this item primarily for racers that are serious and want to shed some front weight. I do not expect these batteries to last as long as a regular size battery. My Goal was to find a light battery that lasted at least one year. We have established that they should last a minimum of two years in our testing, Past that is currently unknown. We do live in a HOT area in California where the summer heat is over 100 degrees, So our tests have been done in reasonably harsh conditions. I feel for the serious racer the weight savings is worth the fact that it will most likely not last as long as a regular size heavy battery. These batteries are not the end all battery and are we are in no way saying that everyone should have one. We wanted lightweight batteries for our own cars and wanted to offer them to others that wanted them as well. The complete assembly is 15 lbs. The battery we have been testing is similar to the odyssey 680 as some have mentioned in an earlier thread....... The difference is that the 680 has a lower Amp Hour rating ( less reserve capacity). The battery we are using is found in Battery jumper packs and is made to start car engines. The TT alternator is a 100 amp alternator and has no problem running the entire electrical system on a Z. The battery is used to start the car. The alternator runs the electrical system and keeps the battery charged while the car is running. We have been testing a total of 5 of these batteries. One of our customers has been running one of these batteries in his car for over 2 years with no problems. The others were installed in our personal cars as well as a couple of friends and Charles Park. We have been using them in our cars over a year now. They have been working great in daily driven and weekend driven cars. The only problem we found was that if a car sits for more then a month that the drain from alarms and such can drop the voltage over that time.....I would say it would probably be a good idea to remove a battery cable if you plan on letting your car sit for durations of a month or more. The battery that drained with the car sitting was able to be charged and put back in use with no issues. These batteries crank the Z engine wonderfully.....We are talking about a 6 cyl with a gear reduction starter :) You only need to worry about cranking amps with large engines that have high compression. ( Like a Diesel ) As with most projects, We wanted to make this really nice.....It ended up costing us much more then we hoped. We are going to try shave some costs over time to try and bring the price down some. We currently have 50 of these set ups ready to go. The only thing I still need to work out is boxes and I should have that handled in the next couple days. The battery and bracket will be sold as a complete assembly already fully assembled and ready to drop in. You will only need to drill 4 small holes in your stock battery tray and we will supply the hardware to bolt it down. The brackets will be offered in red or black If you would like us to leave our logo off, just let us know and we will accommodate :) List price is going to be $239.00 We will offer them at a introductory price of $218.00 on TT.Net.
