Message result in faster acceleration, not so much the overall wieight or diameter. Wheels, since they are rotating, have polar moment of inertia just the same as the entire car does when it's moving and changing directions. The reason mid-engine cars corner so well is because most of their mass is in the center of the car, giving it a low polar moment of inertia and thus faster cornering.

Wheels with more of the mass in the center hub will affect acceleration just as much as the overall weight of the wheel will.

and yes unsprung weight makes a huge difference in acceleration also. smaller wheels will need to turn faster to go the same distance, resulting in faster acceleration, but your speedometer will be off.
