| Because I can. =) Here's the next gen of the AshSPEC GaZ Turbine: Historical link: (Basically to let you know what the hell this is, LOL) [ http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1232200 ] -TwinTurbo Cored (5speed w/ .63 A/R on turbine housings) -Crossflow design (compressor feeds the other turbo's combustion chamber/turbine) -4" Combustor, 2.5" flame tube (75% increase in combustor volume) -Balance tube between combustion chambers (I will be sure to require balance-tube removal to change the spark plugs) -Jet-Coated Turbine housings, polished compressor housings -304 Stainless combustor/flame tube (will be polished externally) -Turbine outlets will be collected into a single 4" afterburner -Converted to Kerosene fueling -Will be fitted with twin intercoolers (for testing) *Estimated thrust with afterburn (at 50#/min airflow), 60lbs. Plenty enough to power just about any single-passenger vehicle <-read: hot-wheels, go-cart, radio flyer, Use your imagination... =) And sufficient to get going faster than you would probably want to go..

Further testing of the prototype unit included the addition of an afterburner unit. It was found that the propane fuel supply's regulator is limiting the amount of fuel that can be delivered. When I inverted the propane tank, the huge rush of fuel into the combustion chamber made the turbo fantastically 'wake up' and it was pushing itself along the ground - this stand itself weighs in at a good 15#'s by itself, plus the turbo, combustor, and miscellaneous hardware to total a good 35#. I continued increasing fuel, but it was evident after the flame-out that either I was simply overrunning the compressor or the wastegate spring I used allowed the wastegate to blow open, causing loss of combustion chamber pressure (which is vital to self-sustained combustion at this airflow rate). I tend to believe it was the latter as combustion chamber pressure is approaching 20psi.

The things I do to keep myself occupied while I dont have a running Z...... :-/
