Message After having my motor out i decided its now time to change the look of the engine bay a bit as well. I decided to go with a black plenum and red valve covers/balance bar. Simple yet nice. I thought the best approach at this was spray paint at first until i seen more and more post on powdercoating. I then checked around and several places in town did it but they wanted around $50-100 for the valve covers. I said thats not bad but for the price of equipment ($95 w/ paints/powders) i figured i would try it myself.

So off Tom and I go to Harbor Freight. $59 for a kit, $10 for each paint color (black and red) and a $5 15month warranty we ring up a total of $95.

So we try it on a valve cover after some cleaning (not much). The pictures dont do justice AT ALL on this picture. The valve cover came out awesome looking. I'm totally amazed at the simplicity of powdercoating for a novice. I'm sure it gets more difficult as I progress w/ better finishes, and so forth but man i'm excited about how nice this shit looks ;-).

The lighting didn't help the picture at all but Tom can vouche for how awesome it looks for such little effort involved. The pictures show signs that parts are not smooth but THEY ARE and some have a bit of dirt where we didn't clean enough. Will make changes on the rest and the more important items that are more visible. I can't wait to see the finished product(s).

Kyle
