Heya, I have been involved with custom parts of this sort before. What tends to be the biggest problem is money. Something of this sort would cost quite a bit to make. You average joe would not see any benifit for making something like this unless they had free access to the software, hardware, machines,the know how, and raw material already. All of the previous stated could easily run someone in the thousands if they didn't have direct access. Also, the cost to produce such an item would not be effective since the 300z is not a widely owned car. If a company was to make the plenums they would never beable to sell them at a reasonable cost. LEts say is cost 12,000 dollars to make the hardware to make the plenum, 400 to ship them out to stores, then there has to be on shelf mark up. that. Also, you have the raw material cost, and labor to make them. I would guess a chunck of aluminum would run 80 bucks and labor would be 11 bucks an hour. After the math is done, and they make 800 plenums. oh, and 4hrs per plenum. I took a 50,000 dollar startup cost, 200 dollar per plenum raw material, 4 hrs per plenum @ 15 bucks an hour. 500 guarantee inventory stockup, 25% retail markup, and taxed 2 times. You could easily look at 530 dollars per plenum. That is if 500 do sell and the compnay that created them doesn't want any profit, just wanna break even. That i doubt. Anyhow, The 300z is not like your average civic where everyone has one and is buying aftermarket for it. For a new product to be introduced, you have to have a comparable market to sell to inorder to make all the costs worth it. I don't see that happening, so, i don't forsee anything of this sort happening unless someone in the z comunity has contact or is able to do this theirselves. Also, the plenum rerquires some extreme knowledge to design. Blah, i spent to much time already. LOL hope you gys have fun.
