Last august or so I started getting a belt squeeking at startup and would last usually until I could hear the fan kick on(usually about 5 seconds or less-sometimes longer) I just figured it was a belt that was needing to be tightened, but I went to the drag strip in september and made 2 passes and I started hearing a knock at the end of run 2. I shut down the car and trailered it home and its sat ever since so I could save for a rebuild. My brother who is a mechanic swears it is rod knock, but can this tensioner be really loud? And if sometime I can get around to pulling the radiator and the fan off and then the covers would I be able to find out if the tensioner was faulty?
