Message to my query of this exact subject.

My question:

Tech,
I have a full set of Power Slot rotors (552 PSL/R & 509 PSL/R). They are stamped "L" & "R" for install, but I have seen other information that suggests that sweep of the slots should be opposite of the way your rotors are marked.

Precision Brakes Co. states,"The discs should be installed such that the end of the slot nearest the outer edge of the disc contacts the pad first."

Tire Rack says, "Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors are sold in axle pairs and the easiest way to verify correct usage is to install the rotors on the side of the vehicle that results in the end of the slot nearest the outer edge of the rotor always contacting the brake pads first."

They are straight vaned Brembo rotors, as I am sure you know, so vane rotation is irrelevant. What is your advice as to orientation of the slots and the reasoning behind it?

Thanks for your attention to this matter,
JC

His response:
Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We design our Power Slot rotors for a mass market of people who want a quieter stop and long pad wear life. It is possible to install Power Slot rotors the opposite way, as Precision Brakes Co. has suggested. Installing them this way will have a better initial bite but there is a chance that the brake pads will wear out faster. Basically it is a personal choice, either way you install them will work. Hope this answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any other questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jessi Zimmerschied/Customer Service

Final analysis,...Whatever tickles your pickle. I guess I will install them the way they are stamped.
