The last time I got stock replacement pads, the guy behind the counter asked what month my car was made. Apprently there was some sort of changeover in May of 1991. The part number goes "up to May 1991", and then "May 1991 and on". There is no differentiation for May. My car was made in May. So he pulled both part numbers out and compared. The physical dimensions were the same, but the compound was obviously different. I opted for the later pads. Now, my car stops on a dime, and I'm still on stock rotors and calipers.
