oh yeah, COST, that was MY main reason to reply and i am just now getting to it....i dont think that cost is an issue, like some of you make it ou tto be....seriously..the t0-4R single turbo upgrade for my FD was 4600.00 just for the kit, shit, i had a FMIC, and had to get a bigger one, more fuel, an lines, and regualtor, and oh yeah, labor.....1800.00 and some machining of teh manifold, and thank god i already had a big street port and 3mm seals from a previous mishap....oh yeah, what about a ecu? gotta get that too....it just keeps on going.....and it is worse for teh supra as well......cause then you dont just have apex seals, you have pistons, rods, retainers and all that good piston related shit.....

the z, IMHO, is cheaper to build......i can get a 550RWHP package form any of the respected tuners fro roughly 6K installed, is that too much, you tell me....no, wait, decide after you roll on a viper.....or smoke a zo6, and so forth and so on......

(OPTIONAL READ FROM HERE!!! my educated opinions....)

i agree with spee too...in some ways...actually, i would....

have to disagreee with the "expense" part. and the inferiority, there is none....all the motors listed, with the exception of the rb26 line, i have owned and built. they all have their downsides. i would first say that the VG (TT) engine is the hardest to 'access' to work on, but more reliable than the others. i love the rx7 13b-rew engines like a good reach-around, and the 2jz is a great platform too. they al have their issues, but none are more prone to failure than the other, NOT EVEN THE FD motor....i have a 425whp+ fd motor that was street driven and never saw a problem.....it all comes down to tuning, and that is where the question takes us.

i think that the reason that you dont hear a lot about the 300zx TT being a huge HP car, is mainly because the supra guys all have something to prove. no shittin. EGO avenue right ahead. quick, make a detour to 300zx TT lane....and you will find a more sensible, likely to be a family man sports car owner. guys like that know they have a big dick and arent looking to impress anyone with a giant dyno number....besides, most supras within the range of 425-700 hp all run about the same times....i have seen it, although some of you may disagree.....

to conclude the rambling, buy which ever platform you want.....i like the driveability of the Z, and the go-kartiness of the fd's i own, and i ride in a supra again from time to time, but i dont like bass fishing.....
