Message The SR-71 was a real jet that took off with a pilot at the controls and cruised for thousands of miles, then landed.

This thing was air launched on a large rocket, and once it hit Mach 5+ its engine kicked in for 10 seconds, burning 2 lbs of fuel. The craft's engine did not accelerate the craft up to that speed, the rocket did.

If you going to compare an unpiloted drone to the SR-71, then you'd have to say that the SR-71's record fell in the 1960's, when the ramjet powered D-21 drones were tested.

They were launched from modified SR-71's, called M-21's.
