Message High compression engines generally are designed for premium octane fuel.

From the article: "No data show that engines designed strictly for regular run better or longer on premium."

However it doesn't make as bold a claim as to say that "No data show that engines designed strictly for premium run just as well on regular."

And just because Porsche says they are able to run on regular, it does not mean that they run as well on regular, and it does not mean that Nissans designed for premium will run just as well on regular.

Summary: I think that I will stick to 93 octane, thanks. I am a bit concerned about the projected upcoming gas price hikes though. I just hope they hold off until this summer when I can start driving my '58 Volvo and give the Z some downtime.

P.S. - Anyone in the Houston TX area looking to buy a used 2+2 this summer?

"The two seater is being joined in a few weeks by a larger two-plus-two model with a rear seat for munchkins." ~Jim Mateja, Chicago Tribune, in regards to the Z32.
