Message I have a bunch of high-po parts ready to bolt on to my engine...
where do i stop with the machine shop?...

should I just get them to bore the cylinders out, and have them stop there?
or do i let them balance and assemble the lower end too? can they eff that up? can *I* eff that up?

if i have it all torn down, what about head work? I'm thinking of shaving and decking the heads... to raise compression more...

since i am building my car for only 400 rwHP, i could just stop with the pistons and reassemble... but if i can bore passages to impriove cooling, balance the rotating assembly to improve respoinse and increase longevity, why shouldn't I?

then, it all boils down to... risk versus rewards... the added risk doesnt benefit me,m since already, the stock block is good for 400rwhp with simple bolt ons....

I dunno dude. I feel your pain...

To make things easier on me, I'm going through the service manual and making photo copies of every applicable page for the machinist.
there will be seperately labeled folders;
'pistons'
'rods'
'crank'
'main bearings'
'valves' (getting a small valve job, 13 angle or less)
etc, etc...
so instead of handing him a booklet of 40 to 50 pages, I can sort everything out by whats being done...
but as an engineer, I am FULLY aware that mechanics NEVER read the blueprints...

god, your depressing me, and I haven't even had them do anything yet... Well, If I expect the worst, then I wont be SO dissapointed when It siezes at the stop light.
