Message While I generally agree with Bernie and the masses here (and he's still right that stock works great), a bunch of SoCal people are now running this setup with Koyos. I'd assume the Howe would be similar thought it might take some light fabbing/cutting for the new shrowd. I plan on getting these within the month in fact. Now, for the longest time nothing could compete with the stock fan and the CFM it provided. Even if something did exist, it didn't utilize a fan shrowd or provide cooling that was as efficient, or better, than stock.

Since Seb tried these out last year, they've worked great provided you do it right. You can get a shrowd that will properly cover the radiator and surrounding area and keep airflow properly routed to the engine. You also need to get a thermostat switch that will allow you to program the fans to turn on/off at a certain temperature of your selection. You can also wire in a switch for even more control (but you still want it to use the thermo one as a backup in case you forget).

Most of us aren't doing it for the horsepower "gains" per se, but there will be some benefit...albeit small. Freeing up one less accessory will clearly free up some power, but again, that's not why you should do this. For us, it helps keep the cars extremely cool at the track/dragstrip and it's been working great in stop/go Los Angeles traffic. For me, I've had TWO Nissan OEM fan clutches go bad on me and I'm tired of spending $200+ each time.

I've been reluctant to do a writeup or anything on these since there's always that immediate opposition to something new that has NOT worked in the past. Not to mention, people WOULD abuse the knowledge (look everyone, toss out your working fans!), but trust me, they do work when done right.

Good luck and if you have any questions, contact Specialty Z or better yet, email Seb or I.
