:There is a reason Toyotas cost more than Kias - and it's not just the "skill of the seller." I remember a time when Toyotas cost less than Chevy's. They were still built much better than Chevy's, especially then, but they cost less also. And people still would say things like "you get what you pay for- see if that jap-crap Toyota's running in 5 years!" Well, 20 years later some of those Toyotas are still running, while the Chevy's of that time period, well they're in the junkyard. A lot had to do with the fact that one brand was an established name while the other was still trying to get a foothold in the market. Also, the value of the country's currency has a lot to do with it. Same with Kia. In addition, another reason that Kia is so cheap is that from what I hear, the Korean government gives their manufacturers subsidies so they can undercut their competitors to more effectively penetrate the market.
