Today was a shitty day...Starting with the drive to work...
In short, the Z is totaled.Im writing for 2 reasons; to release my anxiety to my fellow Zers, and also to guage interest in what might be a large change in my life. Ill post this again tomorrow afternoon for the afternoon readers. The Story:
Heading to work, on a curved on-ramp to a highway from another highway. Came around about 50mph in 3rd gear (safe speed), and as the road started to straighten I hit the gas. Within about a second, the back end kicked out(I wonder how much my quite bald tires contributed to this). I tried to correct and overcompensated. Eventually I ended up hitting a concrete side barrier with the back end of the car, crushing the rear in and bending the frame..I think Im ok; Ive been to the chiropractor and have a follow up visit on Monday. My neck and head hurt a bit. While I know that my physical health is what is important, this whole event has really changed things. I had no comprehensive and while paying for things shouldnt pose a problem for me, it has changed my entire outlook on things, and I now sit in a confused point in my life where I have never been...Which brings me to my second purpose here: I feel terribly confused and unsure of the direction to take. I have an excellent engine with only about 4k miles on it that still runs as it should. I could buy a new chassis and throw the existing drivetrain in, total cost probably upwards of $6k...
Or I could do the thing I never ever thought in a million years I would do...Leave the Z32 and find a new sports car. My engine and other misc. parts would probably make $5-6k here in the classifieds, and I could combine that with some other cash to put down as much as maybe $10k on another car...Ive thought about a C5, or the Esprit I want...There really doesnt seem to be much else out there... What Im hoping you people can give to me...First your sympathies...I love my Z so goddamn much, it hurts to see it in this state.
Second, Id like to hear some advice. I dont want full solutions, or anyone to feel Im taking a poll...I just want to hear what you all have to say; perhaps youll say something I havent thought about yet.
And lastly, I want to guage and see if there might be any interest here from anyone to buy all of my parts as a whole or buy the whole car as a good Z1 powerplant and the car as a parts car. Thanks in advance; Im gonna go cry myself to sleep now...
