Message I want to polish my new intercooler piping. My previous set was made out of stainless steel and when i polished them, they became mirrors. My polishing guy told me stainless steel shines like chrome after you polish it.

A fellow member with the same intercooler setup as me was in need of custom piping ASAP. Since my car was stored, I sold him my set. I had new piping made from aluminum to save some weight but was told aluminum gets dull after you polish it. I know my throttle bodies got very dull after polishing them but I never took care of them. Can I clear coat the aluminum pipes to protect them from fading over time? Or should I chrome them if I am concerned about looks? I just dont like the idea of chroming my intercooler pipes since chrome traps heat. Let me know what you think guys.
