Message	1) Those are cars the majority of people own or have owned. They are affordable and people can relate and get excited when they see their cars getting so much attention and going "fast". 2) If they were to have something like an NSX, Supra or Z car the production team would be pulling their hair out as they tried to deal with finding a good start car teams...not to mention the risks involved with more complex and less widely known cars. A halted project would slow things down and the execs just want a show, NOW :) But yeah, I agree that it just kills the import image.
