seats will affect compression. But with an engine spinning at 6000RPM, valves are opening and closing 50 times a second. They are closing with such velocity that it is basically as if they are slapping shut. Any deposits will be pounded to bits and spit out in no-time. During that period of time, if the piece is large enough, it is going to affect comrpession, undoubtedly, because the valve isn't fully seating. I'm not disagreeing with you there. I just believe that the affects of this are much greater and if carbon were pinched between the face and seat, you wouldn't see changes in a few psi on a compression test - you would see far greater deficiencies in compression numbers. We can agree to disagree though. :) We both know that water injection cleans out carbon deposits so if it is the reason for the higher compression (5psi more was the most on 1 of the cylinders, the rest were like 2-4psi), then so be it. I just think that there are other factors at work, but I'm sure cleaning deposits off the valves is helping. :)
