First of all, I have first hand experience with both. I own 2 V1s. The V1 either out performed the Passport and tied with it. It would never find it after the Passport. I would actually find the Passport pick up bogus readings. The V1 also has direction. Believe it or not, that is key! Cops try to trick people with detectors. Also, it helps you determine false detects (ie doors, banks, etc). Also, the Mike Valentine was one of the original founders (partner) of Passport. Gee...Passport used to be the best when he was there. Now he left and most tests show Valentine being the best. Did Passport replace him with someone more capable? Probably not. Did Mike take his knowledge, experience, and engineering with him to Valentine? Count on it. Don't get me wrong. The Passport isn't that bad, but not as good as the V1. To me it's worth spending the extra $ for something that I'm sure is going to save me a lot more $$$$ in the long run. Pay $100 - $200 more for a V1 or spending $1000+ in tickets & higher insurance rates. P.S. I've been using the V1 for the past 10 years? It's been too long...Like I said I have 2 (one for me & one for my wife) and my father has one. No speeding tickets with the V1.
