Message but that does not mean that the car stops in shorter distance. Ultimately, as Marhsall points out, you are limited by the tire's adhesion to the road. So, if your current brakes can cause the ABS to kick in (i.e. at the point of lockup) then you are already at the tire's limit of deceleration, and applying more brake torque does nothing more than generate more heat and make your leg sore.
