caveat, larger breaks such as wilwoods will always be your best option... but at over $2,000 for just the fronts, it becomes a battle with my bank account. stock brake calipers (rebuild if necessary, seals are cheap). hawk blues race pads ($80.oo i think) stock brake rotors, or slotted brembo rotors. (AVOID cross drilled at all costs) speed bleeders ($25.00 i think) stainless lines ($dunno) 300degree brack brace ($35) dust shield delete ($free) 2x Cooling ducts per side (4 total). a REAL good brake fluid that is PURGED after each day. I've never experienced brake fade at Hallet (120mph tops, but very hard on brakes). I've never tried it at Texas World Speedway (front straight in the 140's... they might fade... dunno) So, for only $200.oo or $300.oo, you can have very competent brakes until you can really justify some enormous brake kit. I came by this combination after trying every brake pad I could. The coolant ducts and the Hawk Blue race pads provided the BIGGEST braking gains for a stock setup.
"Long story short my boost guage was off i think a couple psi and then the bulb went out on it that night. So I used a flashlight to read what my boost was. Looked like 19 pounds, but I guess I was wrong. Then to top it off, I was bouncing off the rev limiter and powershifted to third. And then the big boom. To my amazement, the next morning it acutlly started!!!! then I shut it off a couple secs later it was killing me to hear what it sounded like." - Posted by: hot90tt(underconstruction) on January 19, 2004 at 11:15 AM |
