Message When it went bad, it didn't instantly lock up, it became progressively louder and slower spooling.

At first it sounded like it should, but a bit louder. Then it progressed until it sounded like an F-16, which sounded pretty cool but it was becoming laggy. That only lasted for a short period of time until it eventually sounded like a weed wacker. Even then, it still would build boost, but very slowly and it had to be hurting it even more. Eventually it seized up and obviously wouldn't boost at all. But the engine would still run, just not very well. Idled fine, but you couldn't drive it very well.

So if one turbo started going bad on the TTZ, I'd think that the balance tube would be able to handle the slight difference in pressure at first, but it would quickly become unable to handle the huge pressure difference between the sides. Your car will still boost (primarily working off the boost of the good turbo), but it will build that boost slower since it's being slowed down by the resticted cylinder bank. If you kept driving it the bad turbo will eventually seize and your boost would reach a point of equilibrium that depends on how much the exhaust restriction on one side limits the exhaust production on the other side.
