Message	The inflation system is an explosive charge electrically ignited. The car impact is sensed by several techniques: a cylinder with a ball bearing that is held to one end by a magnet - the impact releases the ball bearing and it makes an electric connection to ignite the charge (1st generation technology); a roller assembly with spring steel that "unwinds" with impact to close the switch (2nd generation technology); and the newer models use solid state accelerometers.
